Force Field Analysis (16 minutes)
The tool that makes a
team look at the non-monetary impact of an idea.
Force field analysis evaluates
non-monetary
factors, just as cost-benefit analysis evaluates monetary factors. Let
us assume that a cost-benefit analysis has been performed on two competing
potential solutions. The results indicate that neither
has any substantial advantage over the other. Under such circumstances,
a force field analysis may disclose some substantial non-monetary consideration
that would make one solution much more attractive than the other. Also, a
cost-benefit ratio that is very strong for a particular solution may still
require a force field analysis.
