Cost Benefit Analysis
(14 minutes)
The tool that makes a team look at
the dollar impact of costs and benefits.
Cost-benefit analysis compares
the costs and benefits of two or more potential solutions in order to arrive
at a priority ranking. There is almost always more than one possible
solution to a problem. Most people want to choose the one that makes
the most economic sense. They want the one that gives them the most benefits
for the lowest cost. Cost-benefit analysis is a method by which each
proposed solution can be evaluated in a similar fashion.

Force Field Analysis (16 minutes)
The tool that makes a
team look at the non-monetary impact of an idea.
Force field analysis evaluates
non-monetary
factors, just as cost-benefit analysis evaluates monetary factors. Let
us assume that a cost-benefit analysis has been performed on two competing
potential solutions. The results indicate that neither
has any substantial advantage over the other. Under such circumstances,
a force field analysis may disclose some substantial non-monetary consideration
that would make one solution much more attractive than the other. Also, a
cost-benefit ratio that is very strong for a particular solution may still
require a force field analysis.

Process Analysis (14 minutes)
A highly focused
flowcharting technique that highlights measurements to effect improvements.
Before any process can be improved,
it must be understood. Process analysis can be utilized regardless
of whether the process is in the office, the factory or a service-related

has been redesigned for use by teams at all levels. This technique is
related to flowcharting which often presents the overview of a process.
Trouble spots unmasked by the flowchart become the focus of process
analysis. This is a "how to" video that guides the viewers
through the steps necessary to do process analysis.
